She walks at night with the keys in her hands
Cause mama always taught her to look out for herself
She looks as if she'd just walked out of a fashion magazine
But the bags under her eyes tell a story she doesn't want people to see

At night it all comes back
By morning she can't stand it
The voices in her head
Saying she's gone crazy
She knows what she's been through
But they all just turn away
And she carries on

She holds her breath when she's alone and they're united
They pass her 'round like shots, no matter what she wanted
She hardly eats, she hardly sleeps, but they don't see
'Till she fades into the numbers of survivors they don't believe

At night it all comes back
By morning she can't stand it
The voices in her head
Saying she's gone crazy
She knows what she's been through
But they all just turn away
And she carries on

I still remember crying on the way home
The shame, anxiety, wondering what I did wrong
The long showers just to wash away the touch
Pretend it never happened cause it's easier for us
I still remember the day I finally figured out
This wasn't something I'd done
And I could finally breathe again.
